2018 LAND Conference
Theme: Bridges

The 2018 LAND Conference will be held February 21-23, 2018 at the Shoreline Inn in Muskegon, Michigan.

NOTE: We are currently developing a new website which will launch mid-summer. Updates to this site will be minimal until the new site is launched. The LAND Conference features several rounds of ten-minute Lightning Talks on topics related to the Liberal Arts and this year's theme.

Lightning talks

  • are inspirational
  • can be focused on a best practice
  • may also amuse and delight
  • report on research
  • highlight something in the presenter's classroom or campus
  • be on something that worthwhile in the Liberal Arts

Proposals for Lightning Talks are accepted from full-time and part-time faculty, administrators, and staff.

The 2018 LAND Conference will also include the LAND Institutional Excellence Award, Creative Expressions Night, Creative Writing Workshops, a Higher Learning Commission Presentation, Student Scholars Lightening Talks, Student Awards Presentations, an amazing Student Art Exhibit, and great food and great opportunities to meet colleagues and RENEW! our energies for the Liberal Arts in Higher Education!

2017 Student Competitions
Awarded at the 2018 LAND Conference

Each year, the Liberal Arts Network for Development sponsors four student competitions to recognize outstanding student work in the Liberal Arts: art, illustration, creative writing, and Student Scholars. Projects completed during the 2017 calendar year are eligible for these competitions. The deadline for all 2017 student competitions has passed.
